Onboarding

Your onboarding, in two parts. Part 1, the Company Bootcamp, is what every new team member completes: the space we're in, who we are, how we work, the tools we use, and the team. Part 2 is role-specific. Department training also lives in each department (for example, Sales onboarding under Sales › Training).

Certifications

Skills you certify on. Read the content, watch the walkthrough, practice it, then mark yourself ready. Your manager signs off, and once you're certified you run autonomously on that skill. Managers see a verification queue below.

Workflows

AI-assisted content generation. Pick a workflow, fill in the inputs, refine the draft with chat, then polish in the rich editor.

Ingest Content

Drop in raw content (a doc, notes, a pasted article, a transcript). It gets analyzed, categorized into the right knowledge-base section, and turned into a ready-to-publish markdown file. Review the plan before anything is created.

Startup Knowledge

Greg Shepard's library of frameworks, theses, and tactical guides. Source material the team learns from and that everything downstream is built on.

Theme

Program Design

Beyond the Cohort, Out of Sequence, Uneven Maturity, Fundability vs Durability. 4 pages on how programs actually serve (or fail) founders across the lifecycle.

Theme

Operations

Fragmentation Tax, Capacity Crisis, Compounding Problem. 3 pages on the underlying operational debt every ESO carries and what fixes it.

Theme

Measurement

The Measurement Problem and Oversight Without Visibility. 2 pages on the activity-vs-progression gap and what the platform makes visible.

Theme

Founder Psychology

Why Founders Feel Lost and the Optionality Architecture. 2 pages on how failure forms and how to reframe founder struggle as systemic, not personal.

Theme

Founder Fundamentals

Term Sheets, Cap Table Dynamics, Investors, Board Meetings, Valuation, Reverse Diligence, Exit Strategy, Product Readiness, ICPs & Personas. 9 tactical pages on fundraising and governance mechanics.

Lifecycle Phases 7 phases + overview

Every page in Startup Knowledge is tagged with the lifecycle phase(s) it applies to. This cross-cut indexes the library by phase, so you can browse "what does our library teach about the GTM phase?" in one read.

Overview

The Startup Lifecycle: 7 Phases

The thesis, the 7 phases at a glance, why sequence matters, and how ESO support maps (and mismatches).

Phase 1

Vision

Idea formation, problem definition, founder self-diagnosis. The widest optionality, the highest mentor-advice mismatch risk.

Phase 2

Product

Building the thing (TRL 3-6), the 4 product gates, the Valley of Death between grants and venture.

Phase 3

GTM

First customers, repeatable sales motion, first priced round. Most ESO programming concentrates here.

Phase 4

Standardization

Making the operating model repeatable. Where most ESO support drops off and most company failure begins.

Phase 5

Optimization

Margins, retention, unit economics. Investor conversation shifts from Explorer to Risk Auditor.

Phase 6

Growth

Scaling, Series B+ terms, formal board cadence. Typical founder ends Series C with 12-22% ownership.

Phase 7

Exit

The 5 exit paths, waterfall math, QSBS, LOI deconstruction, drag-along, ROFR.

How to use this section

Browse by theme when you want to learn a topic deeply (e.g., "what does our library teach about measurement?"). Browse by lifecycle phase when you want to know "what matters at GTM?" or "what should I know about the Exit phase?". Every page is tagged with personas (ESO, Founders, Mentors, Investors, Providers) and lifecycle phases, so cross-referencing works in both directions. Sources are Greg Shepard's May 2026 Field Guides and Pocket Guides, voice-corrected per Startup Science brand rules.
